So this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down.
So why don’t you take a moment, just sit right there, and I’ll tell you how cancer almost ruined my whole life.
Close enough. Rhymes are for hipsters.
Five years ago, my mum was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Fortunately for everyone involved, my mum is a bit of a badass and handled the whole thing with great panache. Now she devotes her time to drinking jugs of cocktail and buying holiday homes, while laughing in cancer’s face. Last year, she celebrated five years clear at a very sober and refined gathering.
Unfortunately, not everyone has been as lucky as me and Sophie were. Every day, mothers have to sit down their daughters and tell them that they have cancer. Some don’t make it. That’s not good enough.
My mum is my best friend. I’d be so, so lost without her.
Research funded by events like the Race for Life helps us beat cancer sooner. Everyone hates cancer. Let’s kick its ass.
